Kudos To JAG and Their Performance at State
JAG represented Crenshaw County very well this week during the State Career Development Competitive Events. There were 22 schools there competing in 10 different competitions. Crenshaw County JAG walked away with 8 awards.
Brantley JAG placed 3rd in Chapter Yearbook, 1st in PowerPoint Presentation, and Jasmine Jones received the Chairman’s Recognition Award.
Luverne JAG placed 3rd in PowerPoint Presentation, Michael Pike placed 2nd in the essay competition and Mickey Pinckney received the Chairman’s Recognition Award
For Highland Home JAG, Alicia Rhodes placed 1st in the Interview Competition and Shakeeta Sparks received the Chairman’s Recognition Award.

Building Projects Update
Visible progress has been slower this week, but progress has been made. The windows for BHS gymnasium have been measured and are set to arrive the week of April 16. Highland Home's air conditioning unit was ordered and is scheduled for a spring break arrival. More paint was spread at LHS and metal work has begun.

Softball and Baseball Seasons are in Full Swing
If you are in need of entertainment, look no further than your local school's baseball and softball diamond for an action packed afternoon, night, or weekend. All 6 varsity teams are highly competitive and some could go deep into the playoffs.

HHS First Graders Moving Beyond the Curriculum
One of Mrs. Bridget Worthington's first grade reading groups has exceeded expectations in her reading class to the extent that she is having to change her instruction to accommodate. In addition to staying on course with the present curriculum, students are reading The Talented Clementine by Sara Pennypacker. The students are reading this 10 chapter from April 2-April 18. A culminating activity will have students participating in their own talent show. Thank you Mrs. Worthington and parents for purchasing the books. We look forward to the show!
LES Fundraiser a Success
Luverne Elementary students raised money for our school by selling chocolate candy bars. Students sold over 350 boxes of chocolate candy bars and raised over $8500. Student incentives included a magic show with Skip the Magic Guy, fun packs and cash! The top two students, Hun Won Choi and La’Taevis Forbes, received $50 each and a chance at the money wheel. Ms. Green accepted a payout bonus for students selling all candy and payment on time. Thanks Luverne Elementary students for working hard for YOUR school!!
County Extension Makes Worm Homes
This past Thursday, March 29th, Ms. Lindsay Kimbro, member of the County Extension office, visited TIGER Institute. Students assisted her in making “worm compost”. In the unit, students will learn of worm life and environment. Thanks Ms. Kimbro for working with our students!
