iPad Update from BHS

A Mac Book Pro, teacher iPad and 6 to 7 student iPads were delivered to each BHS core teachers on October 22, 2012, per ACCESS Lab Grant of $50,000.  A total of 70 iPads were purchased. Teachers received training per our own Kevin Messick and Gary Dobbs. Below is a synopsis of the use of these technologies thus far:
  • Teachers at BHS are sharing the iPads with other teachers so entire classes can work on group projects.
  • Mrs. Becky Cornelius' health sciences distance learning class use the iPads to calculate body mass index.
  • Mrs. Tammy Sims downloaded a free app called iCell to compare and contrast to biology students the differences in animal, bacteria and plant cellular structures. This dimensional application allows students to rotate and enlarge various parts of the cell.
  • Mr. Austin Brook uses Apple TV per Mac Book Pro and large display as tools to facilitate and enhance his instruction.  His students use the iPads to research  and compare  our society with  that of ancient Athens.
  • Students are excited about the iPads... even students who in the past have been less enthused about classwork. They ask, "when they will all get an IPad."
Participating teachers: Greg Evans, Math, David Lowery, Math,
Meredith Beck, Math, Linda Brook, English, Rachel Watts, English, Nathan Lowe, History, Austin Brook, History, Kris Odom, Science, Tammy Sims, Science
