I Stand Corrected- Do You?

It is important to surround yourself with those who will pick you up and encourage you along life's way.  A friend called me today and left me with this thought, though I am not sure of his intent (smile).  (Sidebar:  The New International version is a little more straight forward as it injects that he who does not adhere to discipline is stupid...strong words, but so very true.)

Free Panda Security

Crenshaw County Public Schools has utilized Panda Security successfully for a number of years.  It currently protects over 1,000 computers in our system.  Panda is now partnering with schools to provide that same coverage to the general public.  Please consider telling your family and friends to log on to Panda Security and choose the school in which they wish to contribute.  For one year, the service will be provided free of charge.  There is a charge for recurring years of service, however, the rate is cheaper than others that we have reviewed and 50% of the proceeds will return to us.

Dustin Lowery Attends Banquet

As a follow-up to last week's Dustin Lowery volunteer of the year story, we attended a banquet this past Wednesday that honored him and two other state finalists.  Attached is a short clip of the ceremony.  Unfortunately, I started recording late, but you will get the jest of his honor as it concludes with a standing ovation given by more than 300 attendees.  Congratulations once more, Dustin Lowery!

Dustin Lowery Named Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations to Dustin Lowery of Luverne School!  Dustin is the 21st Century Community Learning Center's South Alabama Volunteer of the Year!  Next Wednesday, March 7, 2012, Dustin and his family will attend the annual Alabama Community Education Conference banquet at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery, where he will be honored and vie for State Volunteer of the Year.  Over the past year, Dustin has volunteered a total of 240 hours to the afterschool program!  He leads and assists with everything from enrichment activities to clerical work.  He is also responsible for the maintenance of TIGER Institute's Facebook page. Dustin is in the 10th grade.
