No, we are not talking football or Christmas but we are rather speaking of hunting season---hunting season is almost here. A preliminary report states that in 2011, 13.7 million people went hunting. Hunters spent $34 billion on trips, equipment, licenses, gas, food and other necessities to hunt. Participants spent an average of $2,484 per hunter.
According to the International Hunter Education Association, approximately 1,000 people in the US and Canada are accidentally shot by hunters every year, and just under a hundred of those accidents are fatalities.
Most victims are hunters, but non-hunters are also sometimes killed or
injured. Although some other forms of recreation cause more fatalities,
hunting is one of the few activities that endangers the entire
community, and not just the willing participants.
Our desire is for all who will, enjoy what God has given and be safe. Pictured below are FFA students at BHS passing out hunter safety information to fans as they enter the gate at last Friday's football game verses Florala. Thank you students for making us more aware.
