Be a Champion and Read Contest

Around 150 students at Luverne Elementary participated in AEA’s “Be A Champion & Read” program.  The goal of the program is to get students and parents excited about reading.  Students were challenged to read six, level appropriate books to qualify for the two grand prizes:  Iron Bowl Tickets, one winner for each team.  Grand prize also includes a visit to the athletic hospitality room and a visit to the field during pre-game activities. 

Prizes:
Iron Bowl Tickets – The two winning students (one for Alabama and one for Auburn) and two guests will receive free tickets.

  • $1,500 – Two participating teachers will be awarded this amount for their classroom!
  • $5,000 – Schools with at least 70 percent participation will be entered to win this amount for their library!
  • $250 – Teachers who decorate bulletin boards, doors or classrooms to promote the contest will be eligible to win this amount for their classroom!
At Luverne Elementary, students were presented with certificates for their participation.  Prize drawings were held for goody bags and Alabama and Auburn Jerseys.
            
Alabama goody bag winners were Austin Crittenden, La’Erykah Harrell, PJ Rich & Reese Williamson.  Grand Prize winner was Cameron Gregory.

Auburn goody bag winners were Kamron Whatley, Anthony Davis, Lacey Kelley & Chance Turner.  Grand Prize winner was Brenna Reeves.


Ms. Lisa Lawrence was presented with a certificate and $25 gift card for 100% participation in her class.  Ms. Judy Wilson & Ms. Shea Simmons were presented with goody bags for their class’s participation.  The first grade had 80% participation.  Thanks to these students and teachers for your hard work.
