During Spring Break, on the eve of the season's most important game against playoff nemesis Sweetwater, the Brantley Varsity Baseball Team took a little time to give back to its larger community. Each BHS volunteer was buddied with a Miracle League player as they fielded ground balls, run the bases, and hit from a tee.
The Miracle League Field is custom-designed for children and adults who are physically disabled or visually impaired with a cushioned rubberized surface to help prevent injuries, wheelchair accessible dugouts, and a completely flat surface to eliminate any barriers to wheelchair-bound or visually impaired players. The field is part of Troy Parks and Recreation and is located in the Troy Sportsplex.
We are glad to say the Bulldogs defeated their opponent on the following day, but we are most proud of their willingness to serve others the night before.
Thanks Coach Kilcrease for your foresight and leadership.
Go Dogs! Best of luck this Friday as we play St. Lukes of Mobile.
